Wisconsin State Statute and Administrative Code establish the minimum academic, occupational and teaching requirements for technical college education personnel. Certification is an effort to ensure quality education by establishing minimum System-wide standards for Wisconsin’s 16 technical colleges.

The certification process begins after a district has hired an individual and covers many positions within the technical college, such as instructors, librarians and counselors.

Much of the certification process is undertaken by the hiring college, which makes the initial decisions involving certification. Close collaboration with the System's Certification Team helps ensure the colleges have the information needed to make determinations effectively and consistently.

The System's Faculty Quality Assurance Team reports to the Associate Vice President of the Office of Student Success.
