Radiation Safety/Health Physics Programs

Radiation Safety/Health Physics is an occupational field specializing in the control and proper use of radiation and radioactive materials to protect fellow workers from ionizing radiation. Radiation safety in today’s health care, energy, manufacturing, defense, and research fields depends on qualified technicians to perform many technical duties. Technicians play a vital role in the health, safety, and wellbeing of their coworkers, patients, the public, and the environment by implementing compliance with state and federal laws regulating the use of radioactive materials.

Students have the ability to take three district certificates that ladder into the new program.

Designed as a shared program with Blackhawk Technical College (BTC), Northeast Wisconsin Technical College (NWTC), and Lakeshore Technical College (LTC), classes may be offered in traditional classroom settings or using Interactive Television (ITV) to link instruction from LTC, NWTC, and BTC.  In some cases, students may be asked to attend classes outside of their current district. The online option is available to working adults in the Radiation Safety/Health Physics industry.
