President Foy on “Tour of Excellence” to celebrate Wisconsin’s technical colleges

Statewide tour aimed at recognizing and celebrating all who make technical colleges an asset to Wisconsin’s communities

MADISON – Wisconsin Technical College System (WTCS) President Morna Foy has embarked on a statewide Tour of Excellence, which includes a visit to each of the state’s 16 technical colleges. The goal of the tour is to recognize and celebrate the technical college students, staff, instructors, alumni and business partners who connect each college to their communities.

“For over a century, every day Wisconsinites have come through our doors with their unique, vibrant life experiences. They’ve trusted us with their goals for themselves, their families and their communities,” said Foy. “I am incredibly proud of the responsiveness of our colleges and want to recognize the impressive work being done.”

Each college visit on the tour will showcase the unique contributions of the talented individuals who call that college home. The visits will also honor the connections each college has to the industries and employers in their regions; connections that directly ensure the vitality of Wisconsin communities in every corner of the state.

Foy kicked off the tour at Lakeshore Technical College in November last year and plans to visit the other 15 colleges throughout the spring. Lakeshore’s visit included a tour of the Center for Health Care Excellence building project, discussions on assessment strategies to accelerate and respond to the need for healthcare workers in the region, and a one-on-one mini cooking lesson with a current Culinary Arts program student.

“The outstanding outcomes Wisconsin’s technical colleges produce in partnership with local employers and community members makes us a national leader in career and technical education,” said Foy. “This is an opportunity to recognize the great work colleges are doing locally and their positive impact all across Wisconsin.”
