Yesterday the Governor signed Senate Bill 380, the Financial Aid Modernization bill. This bill will increase access for students who want to attend college but need financial resources to do so. These changes will help Wisconsin students navigate federal and state financial aid processes and better recognize the changing nature of today’s students and their diverse higher education pathways.
The Wisconsin Technical College System (WTCS) has worked closely with the Universities of Wisconsin and the Wisconsin Association of Independent Colleges and Universities (WAICU) to show our support for this bill which will benefit students attending all institutions. The bill makes needed updates to eligibility calculations in state statutes, aligns Wisconsin law with Federal Pell Grant eligibility and amends the Wisconsin Grant programs to be more student focused and student friendly.
