My grandparents were migrant workers and never attended high school. My mom did not complete high school and my father graduated from a program called Operation Fresh Start. Growing up, they encouraged me to complete school and attend college. After high school, I was employed full-time but could not afford to attend college due to my family's socioeconomic status. Now that I have spent time in the workforce I know the impact of not having a college education. In pursuit of providing a better life for my family, I enrolled at Madison College. It's important to me to lead by example and attend college to show my daughter that education is achievable. I want her to know that a well-rounded education will benefit not only her but our community as a whole. Madison College helps me attain my goals because it's affordable, flexible and welcoming to people of all backgrounds. I have all the resources that I need attending school here. Being a member of the Student Senate allowed me to give back to the college and showed me how to be a leader to my family and community.
