Moraine Park Technical College
Diagnostic Medical Sonography
Finding my place has always been a struggle. I lost my once-fiery passion for learning and sense of purpose. I felt disconnected and only focused on survival, which meant supporting myself and worrying about my next paycheck. I believed I would never amount to anything beyond working at Walmart.
Everything changed after a work-related injury that required multiple ultrasounds. This absolutely fascinated me! Initially, I believed ultrasounds were used to primarily check the status of a fetus, but I couldn’t have been more wrong. Fate was on my side when I met a Moraine Park recruiter during physical therapy at our local YMCA. He encouraged me to explore MPTC’s programs, including our new Diagnostic Medical Sonography program, which immediately piqued my interest!
I chose a technical college because of the affordability, flexibility and hands-on training. Moraine Park reignited my passion for learning and gave me a sense of direction. I was impressed with the resources for students like me who manage ADHD, anxiety and financial struggles. Most importantly, I’ve learned I wasn’t alone. The Moraine Park community has made me feel supported and helped me realize I have a purpose.
