Medical Coder Programs
Looking for a career in healthcare that comes with the chance to take the next step to even bigger opportunities? In the Medical Coder program, you can graduate into many great careers or advance your education in the Health Informatics and Information Management (HIIM) Associate in Applied Science (AAS).
The Medical Coder program, embedded in the HIIM associate degree, prepares you for employment as an entry-level medical coder where you will assign diagnosis and procedure codes for billing, quality improvement, statistical reporting and medical research. As a medical coder, you will use classification systems to review clinical documents and diagnostic results to ensure coding is accurate. Graduates work in a variety of healthcare settings, including hospitals, physicians offices, long-term care facilities and health plans. The availability of jobs is only expected to increase as the need for healthcare escalates nationwide in the coming years.
The Medical Coder program is available primarily online and therefore not location dependent.
