This two-semester metal fabrication technical diploma helps individuals develop fabrication skills that are used in industries today. Students gain skills in fabricating that can lead to FMA Precision Sheet Metal certification through hands-on experience and build metal products start to finish. Students read prints and learn automated cutting, forming and welding using lean practices, gas metal arc welding, shielded metal arc welding, gas tungsten arc welding and oxy-fuel cutting. The coursework also provides instruction in math and communications skills. Students will be expected to demonstrate the critical core manufacturing skills, including working cooperatively and productively, effective listening, maintaining a positive attitude and a safe work environment, demonstrating integrity, communicating clearly, following directions, applying problem solving strategies, mathematical reasoning, thinking critically and adapting to change.
