Born and raised on a dairy farm outside of Watertown, Wisconsin, Dan earned his bachelor and master’s degrees in Industrial Education from UW-Stout. He has over 25 years of technology education teaching experience from around the world, serving as a Peace Corps volunteer in the Kingdom of Tonga and working for the Department of Defense Dependent Schools (DoDDS) in Germany. Many years of Technology Education teaching experience in Wisconsin culminated at McFarland High School (MHS) where he specialized in automotive education. MHS and Madison College created an articulated evening automotive education program for all Dane County Automotive Youth Apprentice students and the MHS automotive program was the first nationally accredited high school automotive program in Dane County.

After retiring from the classroom Dan served as the state education director for the Foundation of the Wisconsin Automobile and Truck Dealer Association. In this role he assisted transportation programs at both the secondary and post-secondary levels in the preparation of future employees in the transportation industry. This included arranging technical training for instructors, student skills contests, student scholarships, Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) accreditation support for programs and camps for middle school exploration in transportation. Dan has served on many transportation advisory boards at technical colleges and high school programs around the state.

He now represents the ASE Education Foundation, in multiple midwestern states, assisting accredited transportation programs and business affiliates. Dan continues his goal of facilitating cooperation between education and business to better mentor youth into their industry.

Dan resides with his wife of 40+ years on five acres in Dane County where he raises aronia berries and enjoys family gatherings with his adult children and grandchildren.

Term Expires May 2027
