In my initial pursuit for higher education to better myself and find a career path, I was deciding between a four-year University or two-year technical college. In reckoning, I was looking for a setting that will align with my learning style, my financial measure, and support my pursuit to grow personally and professionally. With the positive comments my older sister expressed regarding her experience at NWTC and how NWTC contributed to her program completion, I was encouraged to choose NWTC. To this day, the metaphor “fork in the road”, introduced in College 101 class, is symbolic to me in the sense that it was the initial seed planted that led me to develop a new mindset for growth. Owing to the employability skills, the values NWTC fosters both in the workplace and class room setting, I took advantage of the various growth opportunities as a student by joining clubs, taking on leadership roles and advocating at the different discussion panel events. NWTC played a catalyst role in the framework of my overall growth and gave me a new appreciation for culture in a work and educational setting.
