My journey to Blackhawk Technical College is non-traditional and I’ve always held onto the dream of completing my college education. After moving from Tennessee to Wisconsin, I decided on Blackhawk Technical College for multiple reasons. Besides being close to home and affordable, I was impressed with the different programs that were offered. However, the biggest reason that I chose Blackhawk Technical College was the resources they offered for students. Blackhawk has a CARE (Career, Advocacy, Resources and Engagement) Center that includes an onsite counselor/case manager, access to the Headspace meditation app, and provides students with free therapy sessions through the BetterMynd online therapy platform. I have my own mental health struggles and was uncertain that I could make it to graduation, but these resources among others have helped keep me on the path to success. I have been uplifted and sustained by the community of Blackhawk Technical College. Without them, I would not be where I am today.
