Criminal Justice Corrections and Community Advocacy Programs

Corrections and community advocacy staff work in a variety of ways to secure the safety and security of the inmates and staff in jails, prisons, juvenile detention facilities, halfway houses, and shelter care facilities. Many work to keep order within the facility, stepping in to quell disturbances and prevent escape attempts.

Others may work behind the scenes to assist social workers with developing, organizing, and conducting programs. In this role, they work to prevent and resolve problems relevant to substance abuse, human relationships, rehabilitation, or dependent care.
